Hi everyone. I have some news and, unfortunately, it’s not good so please bear with me.
Earlier this week I found a lump at the base of the left side of my neck and collarbone. It’s identical in shape and placement to the one found on the right side of my neck several years ago.
To make a long story short, this means my immune system is no longer able to fight off cancer in my body and that it has spread. How far it has spread we won’t know until the 22nd when I see my oncologist.
I won’t lie or sugar coat this: it could be very serious due to the nature of the disease, Recurrent Nodal Melanoma. However, as most of you know, I’m not the giving up sort so I’m more than ready for another round with this beast.
In fact, you could say that I’m spoiling for a fight.
That said, I would imagine that surgery to remove the affected lymph nodes will happen by the end of the month, at the latest, followed by possible radiation treatments and maybe another round of immunotherapy.
So why am I putting this out there? Because, needless to say, our focus and priorities have shifted. We’re literally in survival mode so be patient with us if we’re slow to respond. Just trust that we haven’t forgotten you and we appreciate your love, prayers, and support.
Also keep Erin and the kids, as well as my extended family, in your prayers because we’re all in this together and together we WILL win.
I serve a BIG GOD who handles little problems like this so I’m not scared nor should you be.
See you all in in the end zone.
